The Gold Rush usually runs on honey, but we're Canadian, so naturally we reached for maple instead. It pulls the caramel and vanilla right out of BARNBURNER 21% Rye Bourbon while fresh lemon keeps the whole thing lively enough that the rye spice still gets the last word.

Ingredients

2 oz BARNBURNER 21% Rye Bourbon
¾ oz fresh lemon juice
½ oz pure maple syrup
¼ oz water
Lemon peel or wheel, for garnish

Instructions

Stir the maple syrup and water together until combined. Add the BARNBURNER 21% Rye Bourbon, lemon juice, and maple mixture to a shaker filled with ice, then shake hard for about 15 seconds. Strain over fresh ice in a rocks glass and garnish with a lemon peel or wheel.
