The Wild Beginning
Like all great and slightly rebellious things, Maverick Distillery started with a simple idea. Make damn good booze without acting like a stuffy old industry. Founded in 2009 in Oakville, Ontario, a town with a strong spirit of community and craft. Our unofficial mission was to shake up the spirits game with bold flavours and honest ingredients and to never be boring. The official mission? Well, that is paperwork and not nearly as fun to talk about.
Why So Serious?
When we launched our flagship TAG No 5. Vodka and Ginslinger Gin, we had one rule. No compromise on quality and definitely no compromises on character. We were not here to make watered-down pretty bottles. We wanted flavour explosions that keep you coming back, whether that was in a cocktail, a mixer, or straight up. Our team takes this seriously except when we don’t. Because spirits are meant to be fun and not intimidating.
The BARNBURNER Effect
Our Barnburner Rye Whisky came from some late-night debates and a stubborn refusal to settle for just okay. It is bold, fiery, and unapologetically Canadian. Double-aged in bourbon barrels, it's a spirit for those who do not just follow the crowd. It quickly became a favourite for those who want their Canadian whisky with a greater depth of bourbon flavour. Bonus points if you like a little heat with your heritage as its bottled over-proof at 41.6% a.b.v..
TAG No 5. Vodka The People’s Vodka
We believe vodka does not have to be fancy to be fantastic. Our TAG Vodka and Vodka Soda's are proof — smooth, clean, and made to mix or sip without pretending to be something it is not. It is vodka for people who want great taste without a price tag that screams special occasion. It has become a staple in homes and bars because it does what vodka is supposed to do without any fuss, or a fancy price.
The Maverick Mindset
We are not here to blend in or follow trends. We are here to make our own lane and invite you along for the ride. Whether it is experimenting with flavours, partnering with rad local events, or just kicking back with a cold one, Maverick is about freedom. Freedom from the expected, from boring, and definitely from anything that tastes like regret. We want our drinks to be an experience, something that brings people together and sparks moments worth remembering.
