Mavericks Small Batch Whisky really impressed me from the first pour.
I started neat, where it showed a nice balance — smooth, approachable, but still enough character to keep it interesting. On the rocks, it opened up even more, bringing out a slightly softer, rounded profile that made it easy to sip.
Where it really stood out, though, was in an Old Fashioned. I tried two variations — one smoked with oak and another made with local Prince Edward County honey — and both were incredible in their own way. The oak smoke added depth and a rich, almost campfire warmth, while the honey brought out a smooth, slightly sweet complexity that elevated the entire drink.
This is a whisky that holds its own neat but really shines when you get creative with it. Versatile, flavorful, and just an all-around great experience.
